Nara Chandrababu Naidu (born 20 April 1950) is an Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Naidu became the state's youngest assembly member and youngest minister at 28, and served the longest term as Chief Minister of the state from 1995 to 2004. He unleashed a series of reforms after taking over the reins of state. The 2004 election defeat for Naidu was primarily attributed to not enough focus on agriculture by his administration. The severe drought and increasing debt had driven hundreds of farmers in the state to commit suicide. Naidu was born on 20 April 1950 at Naravari Palle, Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh in an agricultural family.〔(Economic times ). Articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com (5 March 2004).
